Designed to complement a varied group of historic buildings surrounding a New England village square, this 11,000 SF library was configured in height, mass, and setback to fill a gap in the streetscape. The use of water struck brick and sloping copper roofs link this building to its neighbors and to the traditional New England esthetic. Conceived as two libraries in a single building, the project was planned for phased construction. The one-story entrance lobby containing the central control functions was built with the intention of connecting to a future children's wing. The building was designed in association with James C Hopkins Associates Inc.
